APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Rolando Valenzuela-Barrera pleaded not guilty Friday to an attempted homicide charge for allegedly repeatedly stabbing his wife in the face and chest.
A Feb. 8 trial date was set, court records show.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a residence on Graceland Avenue early on Feb. 8. The victim suffered wounds to her face, wrists and chest.
The two were arguing about their relationship when Valenzuela-Barrera stabbed the woman multiple times, witnesses told police.
Valenzuela-Barrera admitted to the stabbing, telling police, “Yes, I am very regretful because I hurt the woman I’ve loved for so many years,” the complaint states.
At a previous hearing, Outagamie County Assistant District Attorney Isaac Lenz noted Valenzuela-Barrera has been deported at least twice previously, although he did not say to where.
