(UW-OSHKOSH ATHLETICS) – Terry and Tim Jorgensen both earned spots on the first team of D3baseball.com’s 50th Anniversary Team on Friday (July 24). They were joined by third team selections Jeremy Jirschele and Aaron Richartz and fourth team picks Tom Jaremko and Jarrod Washburn.
D3baseball.com wrapped up its coverage of the 50th season of NCAA Division III baseball by selecting 68 players for four teams, representing the best of the best across Division III from 1976 to 2026.
In all, the five Titans on the 50th anniversary team helped Oshkosh to a 454-125-2 record, including a 159-52 mark in the WIAC and a 57-23 record in the Division III Championship, 10 WIAC championships, 10 Division III Regional championships and two Division III national championships. All five were named to the WIAC All-Centennial Baseball Team in 2012 in conjunction with the conference’s 100-year celebration. Jirschele (2019), Terry Jorgensen (2001), Tim Jorgensen (2005), Richartz (2013) and Washburn (2010) have all been inducted into the UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame. Washburn was inducted into the WIAC Hall of Fame in the inaugural 2012 class, followed by both Jorgensens in 2018.
Jaremko, who was the designated hitter for the Titans from 1983-84, transferred to Oshkosh after playing two seasons at Division I University of Minnesota. In his two seasons in Oshkosh, he played in 65 games and hit .451 with 96 hits, 71 runs scored, 89 RBI, 18 doubles, four triples, 28 home runs and eight stolen bases. He was named All-WIAC and All-America both seasons while earning a spot on the 1984 All-World Series Team.
Jaremko signed a free agent contract with Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins following the 1984 season.
Jirschele played all 169 games for the Titans from 2002-05 at second base, compiling a .383 batting average with 253 hits, 177 runs scored, 161 RBI, 53 doubles, eight triples, 15 home runs and 16 stolen bases. A two-time All-American with back-to-back WIAC Position Player of the Year honors, Jirschele committed just nine errors in 462 fielding attempts.
Jirschele played in Oshkosh’s most recent Division III World Series appearance in 2003 and was eventually drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 30th round of the 2005 MLB Amateur Draft.
Terry Jorgensen finished his career at UW-Oshkosh as one of the first great hitters in program history, collecting a .445 batting average across 117 games from 1985-87 with 165 hits, 150 runs scored, 164 RBI, 32 doubles, seven triples, 41 home runs and 13 stolen bases. The outfielder earned All-WIAC and All-America honors in all three of his seasons in white and gold.
Helping the Titans to the first national championship in program history in 1985, a freshman Jorgensen notched 11 hits in 20 at-bats with two home runs, nine RBI and six runs scored on his way to most outstanding player honors. He added an additional nod to the All-World Series team in 1987. Jorgensen’s .900 career slugging percentage still ranks third in Division III history and his .445 batting average ranks in the top 30.
The Minnesota Twins selected Jorgensen in the second round of the 1987 MLB Amateur Draft. He played in 91 major league games with the Twins in 1989 and 1992-93.
Tim Jorgensen’s name remains atop the Division III record book in numerous categories, including career (70) and season (39, 1995) home runs, season grand slams (6, 1995), season slugging percentage (1.275, 1995), and season RBI (121, 1995). A shortstop, he also ranks sixth in career slugging percentage (.879), 12th in RBI (237) and 20th in total bases (495). Across 162 games from 1992-95, he was one of the most dominant players in collegiate baseball, earning All-WIAC status in 1992, 1994 and 1995 and All-America honors in 1994 and 1995 with national player of the year laurels in 1994 and 1995.
The Titans played in the Division III World Series in each of Jorgensen’s four seasons and won the 1994 national championship behind Jorgensen, who was named the tournament’s most outstanding player 10 years after his older brother. He was also a member of the All-World Series Team in 1993 and 1995.
Jorgensen, who was drafted in the 28th round of the 1994 MLB Amateur Draft by the San Diego Padres but elected to stay in college another year, signed with the Cleveland Guardians following the 1995 draft when the American League franchise selected him in the eighth round of that season’s draft.
The Titans’ starting third baseman from 1991-94, Richartz concluded his career with a .371 batting average, 189 hits, 149 runs scored, 146 RBI, 31 doubles, three triples, 35 home runs and 17 stolen bases across 163 games.
Another member of four consecutive World Series teams, Richartz was named to All-WIAC and All-America teams every year from 1992-94 and added All-World Series Team mentions in 1993 and the title-winning 1994.
Washburn was the only former Titan pitcher named to the anniversary team. The left-handed starter posted a 15-2 record across 23 games from 1994-95 with a 1.97 ERA, six complete games and two shutouts. He struck out 141 batters in only 118.2 innings of work while allowing 26 earned runs, 75 hits and 47 walks.
While he missed the 1993 season as a redshirt, Washburn made an immediate impact on the team by scattering nine hits against eight strikeouts during a complete-game victory over Wesleyan University (Conn.) in the title game of the 1994 Division III World Series.
An All-WIAC and All-America selection in 1995, Washburn was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the second round of the 1995 MLB Amateur Draft, eventually playing eight seasons for the Angels, three-and-a-half seasons for the Seattle Mariners and half-a-season for the Detroit Tigers. He was a member of the Angels in the middle of their three-year run to the American League playoffs from 2000-02 and started five postseason games on their way to winning the World Series championship in 2002.
UW-La Crosse was represented by Taylor Kohlwey on the second team, who played in the outfield for the Eagles from 2013-16.
Jordan Zimmerman, a utility player and pitcher for UW-Stevens Point from 2004-07, was named to the fourth team.
UW-Whitewater’s Brady Endl, another utility player and pitcher who played for the Warhawks from 2001-04, earned mention on the third team.
