BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The driver of a vehicle died after they struck two pedestrians and drove into a Bellevue retention pond.
Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to an area of Westminster Drive and Salisbury Street for multiple calls of a vehicle and pedestrian crash. Callers stated following the crash the vehicle drove into a nearby pond and began to sink.
Several individuals, including a Brown County Sheriff’s Office deputy, entered the water to try to rescue the driver, but were unsuccessful.
Green Bay Metro Fire Department arrived with rescue swimmers but were unable to reach the driver. The driver did not survive and died on scene. The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.
One pedestrian was taken to a local hospital for serious injuries and the other was treated and released on scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
