APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Ferris Robinson was sentenced Wednesday to 21 years in prison for a Nov. 25, 2023, shooting in Appleton which injured one man.
Robinson, 31, was convicted by a jury of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He was also placed on extended supervision for 12 years by Judge Mitchell Metropulos.
Before the sentence was issued, Robinson declined to address the court.
The shooting took place early in the morning of Nov. 25. Police said a single shot was fired as they were arriving for a report of a large physical disturbance. One person was hospitalized with a gunshot wound. Police said they were unable to find the shooter among the people running away from the scene.
At a previous court hearing, Outagamie County District Attorney Melinda Tempelis said an argument started inside a tavern on W. College Avenue, then moved outside when Robinson allegedly fired the shot.
Police used surveillance video and traffic cameras to identify Robinson, matching clothing from the scene to images of Robinson on social media. Several individuals also identified Robinson.
Evidence was gathered from a vehicle allegedly used to leave the scene, but no results are cited in the complaint.
“A search warrant was executed on the white BMW that Ferris appeared to have fled in immediately following the shooting. Several swabs were taken from the interior of the vehicle. A 9mm Taurus pistol was recovered from inside the vehicle as well, and that was similarly processed for DNA,” the complaint states.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, according to the complaint.
