APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Adults looking to build literacy and language skills will get some extra space to help its mission when a new apartment complex in Appleton opens.
Fox Valley Literacy was chosen as the nonprofit to receive a community classroom space in the Archive Apartments building, 615 E. Wisconsin Ave. The building is expected to open in late spring.
“As we’re expanding our literacy partnership programs and we consistently have a waitlist of 20 to 40 students, we’re thrilled to use this space for our literacy classes,” executive director Brian Leone Tracy said in a news release. “Fox Valley Literacy is still located at the main downtown Learning Center on Franklin Street, but we’ll use this off-site classroom to accommodate our growing number of adult literacy students.”
The 700-square-foot space will be called the Fox Valley Literacy Community Classroom on Wisconsin Avenue. Leaders say the classroom will include donated office furniture, tables and chairs.
Archive Apartments is set to include 40 affordable housing units. It is being developed by Mosaic Development and Fore Development.
