GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two days after Eugene Winkel was sentenced to four years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenager in Manitowoc County, he was sentenced to another four years in prison for sexually assaulting a different teenager in Brown County.
Winkel, 24, was also placed on extended supervision for four years. He must register as a sex offender, Judge John Zakowski ordered.
His Brown County sentence will be served after the Manitowoc County sentence.
Before the sentence was issued, Winkel apologized and said he has become a better person since then.
“I’m extremely remorseful for my actions. I’m not proud of my actions. But over time, it has helped me become the man than I have and will continue to become,” he said.
According to the criminal complaint in the Brown County case, Winkel connected with a 15-year-old girl online. They eventually met, with Winkel picking her up and taking her to a park. After she had about six cans of beer, he forced himself on her and they had sex, the complaint states. He denied that she told him to stop.
In the Manitowoc County case, a 14-year-old girl and several other people were at a party at Winkel’s Two Rivers apartment. At one point, he entered the bedroom where she was sleeping and two had sex, the complaint states.
