Shae Lester Reese (Brown Co. Jail)
GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Green Bay man faces multiple charges tied to a fatal fentanyl overdose.
Brown County prosecutors say Shae Lester Reese, 26, sold fentanyl to a person with the initials DMH in August 2025, who later died. Investigators say the victim was a 26-year-old man who had recently been released from jail.
According to the criminal complaint, Reese discussed a drug deal with the victim through Facebook Messenger and arranged to meet him at an apartment complex on Deckner Avenue. Police say they were first led to Reese after finding an open Facebook Messenger conversation with his name on the victim’s phone at the scene of their death.
Investigators say messages recovered from the victim’s phone showed Reese confirming the drug was “fire,” which they say referred to high-potency fentanyl. The complaint also says Reese later admitted in an interview that he sold fentanyl to DMH and described himself as a middleman.
The complaint also says that Reese later continued to communicate with investigators through the victim’s account as part of an undercover operation. When officers arrested Reese on Wednesday, they say they found drug paraphernalia on him.
He now faces counts including first-degree reckless homicide, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing an officer. Reese’s charges carry repeater status because he was convicted of felony bail jumping in March 2025.
Reese appeared in court Thursday. Bond was set at $75,000. A status conference is set for June 11.
