WAUPACA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A century old stick of dynamite has been detonated by bomb technicians in Waupaca.
The dynamite was found and turned over on Friday by a citizen.
According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, the citizen believed it was from the 1920’s and in poor condition.
Due to the age and volatility, it was monitored until the Brown and Outagamie County Bomb Squad arrived.
The dynamite was collected, transported, and detonated in a safe location by bomb technicians.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the joint Brown and Outagamie County Bomb Squad, Waupaca Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, City of Waupaca Public Works, Waupaca County Highway, Waupaca Fire Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance Service.
