WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Authorities are highlighting the consequences of speeding and reckless driving after a recent traffic stop.
Around 9 p.m. Friday night, a deputy with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office was monitoring traffic on I-41 southbound near Nee-Vin Road. The deputy observed a Mustang driving 143 miles per hour on the interstate — more than double the speed limit of 70 miles per hour.
Officials said the driver’s citations for speeding and reckless driving totaled $1,515, and their actions put countless lives at risk.
“Dangerous. Dumb. Just plain ridiculous. Period,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a news release.
