TOWN OF ATHELSTANE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Athelstane man was arrested after a standoff Wednesday afternoon.
Marinette County sheriff’s officials say they were looking for a man who had warrants for his arrest and was believed to have drug information. Just before noon, they contacted the 53-year-old man. When deputies arrived, the man ran into a home. He barricaded himself inside and got a gun, firing one round inside the building.
The county’s special response team and armored vehicle were called in to help. After speaking with the man several times, he was ultimately arrested. Sheriff’s officials are recommending he be charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, resisting arrest and drug-related charges.
No one was injured.
