Hours after the dust settled on the blockbuster move of Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres for four players, the Milwaukee Brewers got another deal done Monday night to add a power arm to their bullpen. Milwaukee acquired hard throwing right hander Matt Bush from the Texas Rangers. The 36 year old relief pitcher comes to the Brewers in exchange for minor league pitcher Antoine Kelly and utility infielder Mark Mathias who had a couple of short stints on Milwaukee’s big league roster.
The Hader deal made the bigger splash by far as Milwaukee sends the four time all-star and major league saves leader to the Padres in exchange for their closer, Taylor Rogers, right handed reliever Dinelson Lamet, minor league left hander Robert Gasser and outfield prospect Eseury Ruiz.
The Brewers may not be done yet as they may try to acquire offensive help before the Major League Baseball trade deadline arrives at 5:00 PM Tuesday.
