GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — It was a busy Thursday at both the east and west side yard collection sites in Green Bay as cleanup from last week’s storms continued.
Green Bay resident Michael Haufe says its his fourth time here unloading branches.
“We had a tree blow down in our backyard and I’m still cleaning that up,” he said. “I take it down in pieces and little by little I bring it here. It’s the only way you can do it, it’s the cheapest way to do it.”
Haufe says it’s faster for him to do the work himself.
“You could put it out on the front curb for the city but they’re so busy it takes a couple weeks,” he said. “Everyone is bringing it out to the curb and I see the city is trying to pick it up.”

Green Bay resident Don Motz agrees with this.
“The city is so busy that if we leave this in our yard, you know the grass dies, I have grass clippings so I brought those and hooked the trailer up and bring all this stuff over and get rid of it. It saves the city five minutes but it saves my yard and my grass.
Residents also say that the Yard Waste Collection Sites are not only good for dropping off wood and brush but also picking it up.
People in the Green Bay area are using this as an opportunity for free firewood.
Motz says what the storm left could leave people with firewood for an entire year.
“That would be enough for a year in our house,” he said. “It’s nice to get it for free instead of buying it.”
These sites are open on the east and west sides seven days a week through the fall.
