GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — As the weather warms up construction crews are getting moving across northeast Wisconsin.
In Green Bay, Development Director Neil Stechschulte says there’s a lot going on this season, particularly downtown and on the I-43 industrial corridor, but there are concerns.
“The big one is workforce,” said Stechschulte. “There are a number of initiatives going on right now with the Greater Green Bay Area Chamber and the technical college, but certainly those things take time.”
Rising material costs also have some projects getting delayed by several months.
“We’re hearing a lot of concerns from the development community about pricing and materials and supply chain,” Stechschulte told WTAQ. “These people are dealing with it frontline.”
Stechschulte says one thing the city can do is try not to get in the way.
“As development director for the city, I don’t want the city being something that slows down development from happening,” Stechschulte said.
He says the city is constantly reevaluating its requirements and regulations as a result.
