GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Area business groups are making their push this holiday season, urging people to keep their holiday shopping as local as possible.
Amazon and other big name online retailers are poised to make big bucks this holiday season as the COVID-19 pandemic keeps people at home, and area small businesses are doing what they can to compete.
“They are surviving at this point,” Brenda Krainik with the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitor’s Bureau said of local small businesses. “But they’re also being creative and really thinking outside the box.”
As such, restaurants and bars are offering to go service alongside more unconventional products such as take-home cocktail and pizza kits to keep customers engaged in an era where in-person shopping has taken a considerable hit.
“We want to make sure that once we’re past all this COVID business that our small businesses are still here for us,” Krainik told WTAQ. “Having a strong holiday season is extremely important.”
Downtown Green Bay and Downtown De Pere both have online shopping options for local businesses and restaurants available on their respective websites.
