(WTAQ-WLUK) – Chai Vang, who was sentenced to six life sentences for shooting eight hunters, killing six, in Sawyer County in 2004, has died, state records show.
Vang, 57, is listed as “deceased” as of Wednesday on state court records.
He was most recently housed at the Oshkosh Correctional Institution, Dept. of Corrections records show.
The hunters had confronted Vang for trespassing. Vang said the shootings were in self-defense, after the hunters used racial slurs and shot at him.
