GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Excitement is building for the 50th annual Bellin Run this weekend.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, organizers are offering a nostalgic look back at the race’s rich history in the form of an exhibit.
“As an event that has been around for 50 years, it’s really special and we wanted to share our history with our participants. We wanted the people who have been there from the beginning to be able to reminisce, but the people who are younger and maybe weren’t around to understand what the history of our event looks like,” said Race Director Linda Maxwell.
The exhibit includes things like vintage Bellin Run gear (think 1970s short shorts), newspaper articles from throughout the decades and other fun items.
“We’ll have it all set up by decades. We have a different panel for each year that includes the race shirt, the bib and then just interesting news clippings and photos of the event from that year,” said Maxwell.
The different styles of the apparel and the shirts and the hair — we thought it was a really fun way to commemorate our 50 years.
The exhibit will debut publicly June 12 from 3-8 p.m. at the Bellin Run Health and Fitness Expo in Astor Park. You can also take a look down memory lane from 8-11 a.m. on race day. The run begins at 8 a.m. June 13.
