Sherwin-Williams has officially named “Offbeat Green” (SW 6706) its “Loneliest Color” because it is the brand’s least-purchased paint shade. While critics online compare the unloved, chartreuse-adjacent color to a lukewarm bowl of broccoli or asparagus soup, the company is attempting a major sales spin, describing it as a “vivid, citric lime green that reflects a growing desire for individuality.”
To drum up interest for the shelf-sitting paint, Sherwin-Williams is partnering with the LeBron James Family Foundation to feature the bold hue in its community spaces, including on a front door. Additionally, consumers brave enough to order a sample of Offbeat Green will be entered into a sweepstakes to win a basketball signed by LeBron James, limited-edition apparel, and a $1,000 Sherwin-Williams gift card.
