A driver in Milwaukee County learned a very messy lesson about why construction signs exist after physically removing a “Road Closed” barrier on a highway ramp, only to drive his pickup truck straight into freshly poured concrete!
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation released traffic camera footage of the incident, which occurred at the busy I-41/894/US 45 and National Avenue interchange. Instead of finding a detour, the driver got out of his truck, tossed the barricade aside, and hit the gas. He made it just a short distance before the truck sank bumper-deep into the wet cement, burying the tires and completely disabling the vehicle. Crews eventually had to use heavy machinery to pluck the truck from the muck, and officials are warning drivers not to remove “Road Closed” barriers and to follow any construction signs on the road.
