GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay’s Shipyard District unveiled new improvements to the downtown region.
The area along south Broadway is celebrating the addition of new street benches and bins. They are strategically located along South Broadway in proximity to Green Bay Metro bus stops.
District organizers hope the permanent additions will contribute to the walk-ability and bike-ability of the area.
The designs of the benches and bins came from public design workshops that were held in 2025 by district stakeholders, including Shipyard District business owners and neighborhood leaders.
The new benches and bins can be found along South Broadway in the 700-block through the 1300-block.
An unveiling ceremony was held Sunday, April 26, by district officials, and included a dedication to Jim Piontek, a founding member of SDI and former Shipyard District business owner who passed away in 2022.
The new street furniture was paid for with American Rescue Plan Act funds allocated to the city in 2022.
