GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Green Bay Police Department is investigating after a drone briefly interrupted the Green Bay Packers game Thursday night at Lambeau Field.
With 7:43 remaining in the 3rd quarter, referee Scott Novak signaled for a delay and both the Packers and Carolina Panthers briefly cleared the field. Announcer Al Michaels mentioned the drone on Prime’s Thursday Night Football broadcast and said the drone was not part of the broadcast operation.
A spokesperson for the Green Bay Police Department said “This is an active investigation at this time, and we have nothing further to currently release on the matter.”
The FAA restricts drone flights within three nautical miles of qualifying NFL stadiums, up to 3,000 feet, from an hour before the game until an hour after it ends.
The Packers beat the Panthers 27-19. Green Bay’s next home game is Nov. 15.
