BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Health officials are warning of tattoo regulations after a social media video surfaced showing tattooing done between pumps at a gas station.
The video was posted Wednesday by Green Bay-based Ink Shrink Tattoo.
Another post from the same account shows photos of the session.
“Whether this was real tattooing or staged for publicity, we want to remind everyone that Wisconsin law and Brown County ordinances do not allow tattooing outside of a properly licensed and regulated establishment,” Brown County Public Health said in a statement Friday.
“Unlicensed tattooing can be dangerous. It poses health risks, such as serious infections and the spread of diseases. As a consumer, you should find a licensed tattoo artist who works in a safe, regulated environment that follows health standards.”
Health officials say those interested in becoming a tattoo artist or running a legal shop can email bchealth@browncountywi.gov or call 920-448-6400.
