STURGEON BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Adem Citek pleaded not guilty Monday to seven charges, including battery to an officer, for allegedly crashing into a Sturgeon Bay police squad car.
Citek, 29, also waived his preliminary hearing Monday, court records show. He returns to court Oct. 14 for a status conference.
Bond was previously set at $20,000 cash.
According to the criminal complaint, police responded to State 57 on Sept.12 for a report of one vehicle ramming others.
As Officer Reinhard approached the rear of the suspect vehicle, with his squad’s emergency lights on, the driver accelerated away, crossed the centerline, and drove directly into the opposing lane of travel. The suspect vehicle struck Officer Crabb’s squad head-on traveling approximately 45 mph, just east of the intersection at 18th Avenue and Michigan Street,” the complaint states.
Citek was “visibly angry” and asked for police to shoot him. An officer used a taser to subdue him.
The complaint contains no comments from Citek on his motivation.
The officer struck report neck and back pain as a result of the crash, according to the complaint.
