(ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) WAUKESHA – St. Norbert College traveled south to face old rival Carroll University, falling 3-0 in a non-conference match at Van Male Fieldhouse.
The Pioneers topped the Green Knights – who were in the Midwest Conference together until 2016 – 25-21, 25-22, 25-16.
St. Norbert fell behind 14-8 in the opening set before making a rally to get back in it, closing to within 20-19. The Pioneers closed the set on a 5-2 run to take a 1-0 lead. The Green Knights used that momentum to build a 7-3 lead in Set 2, but Carroll made a late run to pull ahead and take a 2-0 edge. Carroll built an early 11-5 lead in Set 3 to take control and lock up the win.
The Green Knights hit .143, getting 34 kills against 18 errors in 112 attempts. Gracie Buss led St. Norbert with nine kills, while Brooklyn O’Malley and Anna Kudick had seven terminations each. Keira Ashenfelter (pictured) had 15 assists.
Annabel Stevenson led the back row with 12 digs, while Ashenfelter added nine. O’Malley, Kayden Lamon and Kirsten Klatt had two blocks each.
Carroll hit .239 with 39 kills against 11 errors on 117 attempts. Carly Hicklin had a match-high 11 kills for the Pioneers.
