(LEARFIELD) – With a 5-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates in Pittsburgh, the Milwaukee Brewers clinch their fourth straight National League Central Division title.
They had already won a playoff position last week.
Jacob Misiorowski topped 100 miles per hour on 43 of his 82 pitches as he earned the win. Misiorowski allowed 5 hits and 1 walk in 5 scoreless innings while striking out 7 to improve to 15-5,
Joey Ortiz and Luis Lara drove in two runs apiece. Ortiz had 3 hits and raised his batting average to .270.
Milwaukee Brewers GM Matt Arnold talked about winning the NL Central and having the best record in baseball most of the way.
Arnold talked about the job manager Pat Murphy has done.
Arnold talked about this team that has won the National Central Division 4 years in a row.
Murphy talked about the pivotal moment to the season.
He also discussed Misiorowski and the young pitching staff.
Murphy said that the youth of the club is amazing.
He said that he’s happy for the guys that have done it 4 years in-a-row.
Logan Henderson starts for Milwaukee tonight in the second game of the three-game series. Henderson is 10-3 with a 2.34 ERA.
The Pirates will send Jared Jones to the mound. Jones is 4-6 with a 4.10 ERA.
