(ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) – COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – St. Norbert College surrendered an early goal and could never find the equalizer in a 2-0 season opening loss to St. John’s University in a non-conference match at Haws Field.
The Green Knights found themselves in an early hole when the Johnnies’ Billy Cornett potted a goal just 1:14 into the match. That goal would hold up until the game’s final moments, when St. John’s salted the match away with a Laird Holden goal at 87:48.
St. Norbert had a good scoring chance in the 41st minute when a Sam Thompson shot was turned away by a defender in the 41st minute.
The Johnnies outshot St. Norbert 14-7, including 8-2 in the second half. Charlie Anguil (pictured) had two shots – both on goal – to lead the St. Norbert offense. Thompson and Evan Baird had the other shots on goal for St. Norbert. Jackson Kiszka made six stops between the posts for the Green Knights.
The Green Knights complete the second leg of their season-opening trip to the Land of 10,000 Lakes when it faces Hamline University at 4 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul, Minn.
WOMEN
OSHKOSH – St. Norbert College opened the 2026 campaign with a 4-0 loss to UW-Oshkosh in a non-conference game at Titan Stadium.
The Green Knights conceded at 21:47 on a goal by Nadia Epshteyn from 25 yards out and trailed 2-0 going into the half after Hannah Huntley converted a penalty at 41:21. Two more goals in the second half followed for the Titans, with the third at 57:52 from Ella Duckman coming on a chip shot.
Aleah Reesman had a chance to score a consolation penalty with under 10 minutes to play, but her shot was denied by the Oshkosh’s Larissa Likes.
The Green Knights were outshot 28-6 by the Titans. Shelby Busch forced two saves out of Little. Leah Hess (pictured) made six saves between the posts, four coming in the first half.
The Green Knights will have a quick turnaround, hosting Alverno University Wednesday at 4 p.m.
