(WNFL) – The dust has settled on Week 1 of the 2026 high school football season with some amazing football played by teams in northeast Wisconsin.
With those results etched in stone, let’s take a look at this week’s Fantastic Five.
1 – Notre Dame: The Tritons started the season with a bang with Kingston Allen running wild in Notre Dame’s 56-53 overtime win over the Neenah Rockets. Neenah is forecast to finish first in the Fox Valley Association. Up next: Kaukauna at Notre Dame, Friday
2 – Bay Port: The Pirates rolled over a talented Middleton team, showing multiple weapons in the victory. Up next: Kimberly at Bay Port, Thursday.
3 – West De Pere: It’s hard to drop the Phantoms by a spot in the poll despite the convincing win over Sun Prairie East but the Pirates had a slightly tougher first week opponent. Up next: Appleton North at West De Pere, Thursday.
4 – Freedom: Lake Mills is projected to be the top team in their conference. The Irish with a balanced offense and a young defense that appears to have matured quickly cruised to a win. Up next: Freedom at Xavier, Friday.
5 – Fox Valley Lutheran: The Foxes cruised to the win over Kewaunee which is picked to finish second in the Packerland Conference. Up next: Fox Valley Lutheran at Little Chute, Thursday.
And then some: Trying to force their way into The Top Five are Little Chute, Kaukauna, Appleton North, De Pere, Appleton North and Pulaski.
