At 97 years old, Betty Bromage from Cheltenham, England, has officially shattered her own Guinness World Record as the world’s oldest female wing walker!
Strapped securely to the top wing of a biplane at Rendcomb Airfield in Gloucestershire, the daring former nurse took to the skies for her sixth flight since first trying the extreme aerial feat at age 87.
The high-flying accomplishment carried deep personal meaning for Bromage. Just last year, she suffered a stroke that impacted her speech. Determined to express her gratitude to the medical team that cared for her, she dedicated her record-breaking flight to raising funds for the stroke unit at Cheltenham General Hospital. While she had previously set the world record in 2022 at age 93, Bromage insists that staying active and taking on daring challenges is the best way to avoid getting bored with life.
