APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Appleton Police identified the victim of the June 18th fatal dump truck turnover crash as 61-year-old Victoria Wagner of Menasha.
Wagner was the only person in the vehicle.
A Spotfund fundraiser is being held to cover funeral expenses. An obituary states Wagner was a crossing guard in Kaukauna.
“Vicki was one of the most selfless people you could ever meet,” reads the obituary. “She dedicated 9 years of her life to caregiving and spent the last 4 years serving as a crossing guard in Kaukauna, where she enjoyed greeting families and keeping children safe each day.”
Around noon that day, a heavy-duty tow truck exited northbound Wisconsin Highway 441 on to E. Calumet Street. The wrecker left the road and entered the median. When it entered the median it crashed into a lightpole and knocked it over; the dump truck the wrecker was pulling became detached.
The dump truck then rolled over and hit Wagner’s vehicle. First responders attempted to render first aid. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Appleton Police and Wisconsin State Patrol continue to investigate the crash.
