The Tartan Army is bringing a legendary piece of Scottish humor to the streets of Boston for the World Cup!
Viral footage captured a group of determined Scots repeatedly throwing a cone at the Samuel Adams statue outside Faneuil Hall before one fan climbed the pedestal to ensure the American icon got his proper Glasgow “crown.”
The prank is a direct nod to Glasgow’s most famous landmark: the Equestrian Statue of the Duke of Wellington. For over 40 years, locals have scaled that monument in the dead of night to place a traffic cone perfectly on the Duke’s head, turning it into a global symbol of Scotland’s rebellious, lighthearted wit.
Despite past municipal efforts and legal warnings to stop the trend due to removal costs, it has become a widely recognized symbol of Scottish humor.
