HOWARD, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An explosion and fire that killed twin sisters was the result of “gasoline being introduced into the home,” investigators have concluded.
Kayla and Haley Fritsch, 26, died in the Nov. 6 blaze at their home in the 1300 block of Rockwell Road in Howard. Multiple pets also died.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Howard Fire Department released the results of their joint investigation on Monday.
“During the investigation, fire investigators discovered three damaged gasoline containers in locations that were inconsistent with standard household storage practices,” the agencies wrote in a news release.
The Fritsch sisters were the only ones home at the time of the explosion, investigators said.
Authorities “are confident that no other people were involved in the incident,” they wrote.
According to their joint obituary, the sisters graduated from West De Pere High School in 2017. Both women worked as daycare teachers.
