(WTAQ-WLUK) — Monday was a big day for two Northeast Wisconsin libraries.
The New London Public Library celebrated opening day at its new location at 113 W. North Water Street. This is the former site of First State Bank.
The building is 26,000 square feet — far larger than the library’s previous facility. This added space allowed the library to transfer all of its resources over, while still having the ability to offer fresh community programming. Additionally, the library features 10 rooms that can be rented.
And in Brown County, the Ashwaubenon library branch at 1060 Orlando Drive closed Monday as organizers prepare to relocate operations to the new Pamperin Family Branch Library at 909 Cormier Road. The new library will open to the public July 18.
Twice the size of the current Ashwaubenon branch, the new library will offer areas for children, families, teenagers and young adults, as well as a larger collection. It also features six private study rooms, flexible meeting rooms for group use and a quiet reading room for anyone seeking a calm space.
“The Pamperin Family Branch Library marks a thrilling new chapter for library services in this region,” said Sarah Sugden, director of the Brown County Library system, in a news release. “We are incredibly grateful to our funding partners, our donors and the entire community for making this vision a reality. We cannot wait to open the doors and welcome everyone in.”
