A family-operated dairy farm in Massachusetts is here with a wild take on ice cream! Flayvors of Cook Farm, located in Hadley, a town proudly recognized as the “Asparagus Capital of the World,” has brought back its most infamous seasonal treat: asparagus ice cream.
Dubbed “Hadley Grass,” the bright green dessert blends sweet cream with toasted almonds and real, locally grown asparagus. The farm’s manager admits that customers frequently think the flavor is an elaborate joke, but it has become a highly anticipated spring tradition. As for the taste profile? According to the creators, the first bite mimics a sweet, nutty pistachio flavor, quickly followed by the distinct, unmistakable punch of real asparagus chunks and strings “on the backside.” The bizarre culinary creation is heavily tied to the local harvest season, meaning daring foodies only have until early June to snag a scoop before it disappears for the year.
