While most college graduates celebrate their achievement with a standard campus photoshoot, 22-year-old Kat Daley decided to raise the stakes by posing with a 1,000-pound guest!
The recent McNeese State University graduate has gone viral after taking photos alongside “Big Al,” a massive, 14-foot American alligator. Dressed in her full cap and gown, Daley sat right next to the giant reptile and even leaned in to kiss its nose, leading many online to think the images were fake or AI-generated.
Daley quickly confirmed the shoot was entirely real and heavily supervised by wildlife professionals. Holding a new degree in natural resource conservation management, Daley has worked with reptiles since childhood and now works full-time at a Texas reptile sanctuary alongside her fiancé. By sharing the jaw-dropping photos, she hopes to educate the public and show that while alligators require extreme respect and professional training to handle, they aren’t the mindless, bloodthirsty monsters they are often made out to be.
