Beagie Smalls is one of about 50 beagles coming to the Green Bay campus that was freed from the Madison-area breeding, research and testing facility earlier this month.
National animal welfare organizations negotiated the freedom of roughly 1,500 dogs from the facility after a violent protest last month. The other rescued dogs were sent to other animal welfare groups across the Midwest and the South.
The beagles are being spayed or neutered, nursed back to health and receiving behavioral training. Once they’re healthy and trained, they’ll be available for adoption.
