Sturgeon Are Spawning in the Streets of Shiocton

Only in Wisconsin. The annual lake sturgeon spawning run is officially underway on the Wolf River — but thanks to record flooding, you might spot one in the road before you spot one in the river.

According to FOX 11, while covering an evacuation of Shiocton Wednesday, FOX 11’s Emily Matesic spotted sturgeon spawning in floodwaters across the street from Bamboo Bend. Yeah. In the road. In the floodwater. Doing their thing.

If you see sturgeon on the side of the road… or… on the road, probably best to leave them alone.
