British Columbia is officially breaking up with the twice-yearly clock change!
Premier David Eby announced on March 2nd that the province will “spring forward” this Sunday, March 8, 2026, and then stay there permanently.
For years, B.C. officials said they wouldn’t make the switch unless Washington, Oregon, and California did the same to keep the West Coast in sync. However, with U.S. states still waiting on Congressional approval to enact their own permanent Daylight Saving Time laws, B.C. leadership decided to move forward independently. Eby noted that the constant shifting causes unnecessary “chaos,” citing everything from increased car crashes to disrupted sleep for parents, kids, and even pets.
The transition to what the province is now calling “Pacific Time” will be fully complete this November. When the rest of the Pacific Northwest “falls back,” British Columbia will remain an hour ahead of its neighbors to the south!
