1X (the Palo Alto robotics folks, not a new boy band) just announced NEO, a consumer-ready humanoid robot built to do the boring stuff so you can live your best Wisconsin life. Think: opening doors, fetching things, tidying up, organizing shelves, maybe even rescuing that sock that’s been hiding behind your dryer since 2017. Preorders are open now with a $200 deposit; you can buy it outright for about $20,000 or go $499/month on subscription. First deliveries are slated for 2026.

Is it pricey? Yep. But so is replacing your weekend because you were stuck doing dishes and reorganizing the pantry. If 1X delivers what they’re promising, this could be the first robot that actually earns a spot next to your Roomba and your air fryer. Do you welcome our new robot overlords?
