GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Green Bay Area Public School District and the village of Allouez are working a “land exchange” involving the Langlade Elementary School site, but details have not been released.
As the school district copes with shrinking enrollment, it has closed several schools. Three of those sites have been sold: the former Keller Elementary, the Froebel Early Learning Center and Wequiock Elementary.
Also slated for closure is Langlade Elementary School, 400 Broadview Drive. The nearby Doty Elementary School is being expanded to accommodate those students, starting in fall 2026.
The school board agenda for Monday lists the land exchange agreement as an action item, but there are no supporting documents to explain the details. The district confirmed the item concerns the Langlade site.
According to village administrator Jim March, Allouez has discussed the issue but has not taken action in open session about the deal.
The Langlade site is 7.239 acres, according to Brown County land records.
Langlade Elementary is next door to the Broadview YMCA. That building is owned by the village and leased to the YMCA. The YMCA has discussed options for the facility, but it’s unclear if the proposed land exchange is related to that issue.
The school board meets at 6 p.m. Monday in room 337 of the district office building, 200 S. Broadway.
