I finally had a weekend off! (I know I am shocked too) So I packed up the car, my roommate and our fur babies and we headed south to Indianapolis, Indiana!
Friday was basically a travel day, but Saturday, after a long sleep Sierra and I went and checked out the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. Don’t let the name fool you, this place is incredible, and even at 28 I am completely amazed at how cool and how much fun I have every trip. You’re greeted with dinosaurs that are crawling into the building!
We had gotten kind of a later start to the day so we didn’t get to see everything in the museum this time, but we had to see my favorite exhibit, the Fireworks of Glass Tower and Ceiling. If you haven’t seen it in person, it is a 43-foot tower composed of 3,200 pieces of red, yellow, and cobalt blue blown glass and a pergola ceiling made up of 1,600 pieces of multicolored glass created by artist Dale Chihuly.
The tower itself is unbelievable, but my favorite part is that you can go underneath it, and look up at the ceiling of glass. In fact they have a very slowly rotating chair that sits you back so you can truly immerse yourself in all of the glass pieces!
Later on in the evening Sierra and I met up with her best friend, Rilie, at an Irish pub in Beach Grove, where I kicked both of their butts in darts.
On Sunday, Rilie introduced us to one of the coolest food halls I have ever seen in my life, it is called The Garage and it is in an old Coca-Cola bottling factory. There is food from everywhere, from sushi, to tacos, to lobster, you name it, it was probably in there. The area itself reminded me a lot of Titletown, except it was bigger, and much less football haha. Once we were finished eating we walked a crossed the street to Pins Mechanical Co, which was another really cool place that featured a multitude of bars, pinball machines, bocce, but also duck pin bowling! I was a little rusty, but (and not to brag) but I beat both Sierra and Rilie again.
Okay okay, I know I said Biff’s weekend in 5, but I went overboard on pictures this weekend, so enjoy the bonus’s! It was Rue’s first trip to Indiana and it wouldn’t have felt right without buying her a souvenir, so being a Colts fan myself, she got her very first jersey. She isn’t thrilled, but you have to see just how cute she is.
Okay backstory: Rue additionally has a cat brother, Bleu, but she hasn’t really been around any other cats in her life. Sierra’s mom has 3 cats, Misty, Bitty, and Jack, none of which wanted any thing to do with my curly haired cutie. However, she watched them like a hawk all 4 days we were there and on Monday our final day there, Rue decided to surprised ALL of us, by following Bleu up ON TO THE KITCHEN TABLE. In a single bound. There truly are not any words to be able to tell you how speechless the 3 of us were. And if you think I am kidding… here is in fact photo proof that white dogs can jump. 😉
