Hanif Johnson decided he wanted to turn his life around for him and his daughter. In his past, he had been jailed three different times, including once for an alleged robbery and another for a hazing incident for which he was found not guilty of the major charges.
“The only thing that saved me was my positive ties to the community,” Johnson said. “The first one was for a robbery and I just went fishing with one of the police officers, and they were able to get my a polygraph test, so they gave me a lie detector test and they found out that they had the wrong people.”
“One day, I decided this ain’t the way I want to live my life, so I started running track. Track actually saved my life,” Johnson said, later becoming a state champion.
Judge Hanif Johnson not only became the youngest judge in the state’s history in 2018 but he also coaches track and field at Harrisburg High School in addition to being a single dad.
Love to see it!!
2. Ali Alsamarah, MD, an Interventional Cardiology Specialist with @adventhealth Ocala, got a call that he was a potential match for a child who desperately needed bone marrow. The doctor didn’t hesitate to donate his own. He said he was a little sore but was glad he could help—he was inspired to do so after a friend battling cancer was saved by a donor. He hopes to inspire others to become donors to help save lives.
