Awareness & Action
Mental health matters every day of the year, not just in May. Whatever the season, there's something small you can do, for yourself or someone you love.
Recognized This Month (June)
Men's Mental Health Month
Men often face added stigma around asking for help. June is a reminder to check in on the men in your life, and to reach out yourself if you're struggling. The Get Help Now tab lists confidential lines open to everyone.
PTSD Awareness Month
June is National PTSD Awareness Month, with National PTSD Awareness Day on June 27. PTSD can affect anyone who has lived through a traumatic event, not only veterans, and effective treatments exist. Find veteran and trauma resources under Specific Needs.
Pride Month
June is Pride Month. LGBTQ+ community members can face unique mental health challenges. The Specific Needs tab lists affirming local and national support.
Ways to Take a Mental Health Moment
Check in on someone, for real.
Skip the "you good?" texts. Try: "I've been thinking about you. How are you actually doing this week?" Then listen.
Take a free, confidential screening.
Mental Health America offers anonymous online screenings for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more at mhanational.org.
Move your body, together.
Walk a Packers Heritage Trail loop, hit the Fox River trail in Appleton, or paddle the lakeshore. Even short walks can boost mood and lower stress.
Share your story.
Sharing your own experience with mental health, on social media or just with a friend, can help break the silence around stigma and remind someone else they're not alone.
