How many times have you see your favorite artist perform live and been disappointed in how it sounds? It happens quite a bit. It happens so often that there’s actually an industry phrase for it – “studio artist.”
I think one of the most underappreciated aspects of the artists who emerge from shows like The Voice or American Idol is the fact that their very survival has hinged on their ability to sing live, to always be on, to perform brilliantly every night, leave it all out there…because every night just might be their last night on that stage. They are fantastic vocalists.
