New York startup, Fauna Robotics, is on a mission to make robots look less creepy. Enter Sprout, a 3½-foot-tall robot that is actually cute!
Instead of cold, hard plastic and exposed wires, Sprout is soft, padded, and basically looks like it wants to be your best friend. It can walk, pick stuff up, and even dance! The creators wanted to make a machine that feels at home in a school or a living room rather than a sterile factory floor. It has expressive facial features and movements designed to make you feel safe, not like you’re being hunted by a Terminator.
Right now, Sprout costs about $50,000, so it’s mostly for researchers and developers rather than our apartments.
