OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A drug investigation in Oshkosh resulted in the arrest of a wanted man and the seizure of drugs and paraphernalia.
It happened Tuesday after the Oshkosh Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Unit searched a home in the 1500 block of Doemel Street. About 43 grams of methamphetamine was seized, along with drug paraphernalia.
A male fugitive fled on foot from the residence, leading to a search of the neighborhood.
Because the home is in the neighborhood that includes Emmeline Cook Elementary School, police notified school officials of their initial search. Officers continued to update the school on their search for the wanted man.
Several citizens reported seeing the man, which helped police locate him coming out of a backyard on Murdock Avenue, around Hazel Street.
The 36-year-old subject was wanted for a felony apprehension warrant through probation and parole. He was arrested and taken to the Winnebago County Jail. Police are recommending numerous drug charges, including possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and maintaining a drug trafficking dwelling.
“The presence of illegal drugs and drug dealers poses a threat to the health, safety, and well-being of our residents. Drug overdoses are a threat to all of us,” the Oshkosh Police Department said in a news release.
We will not tolerate the distribution, sale, or possession of illegal narcotics within our city. We will continue to work tirelessly, utilizing all available resources to identify and apprehend those individuals who engage in these destructive behaviors.
