APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The liquor license for Mr. Frogs bar on College Avenue in downtown Appleton may be revoked for repeated violations.
According to city law, a liquor license is to be revoked if a bar receives 200 demerit points across three years. Mr. Frogs has accumulated 265 violation points over the last nine months.
The violations include:
- Allowing underaged patrons to enter
- Serving alcohol to underaged patrons
- Serving alcohol past 2 a.m.
- Failing to maintain order
A complaint filed by Lt. Meghan Cash of the Appleton Police Department details the incidents below.
“Mr. Frogs has further demonstrated through its actions, inactions, and even by the words of it own employees, that the priority is not in making sure that people are safe or even that people who engage in violent, disorderly, or other illicit behavior on their licensed premises are held accountable after the fact,” the complaint says.
It later adds, “There is very little interest in preventing violent disorder, as long as that violent disorder can be pushed out onto College Avenue quickly enough to avoid consequences for the bar.”
The city’s Safety & Licensing Committee approved the revocation Wednesday. Common Council will vote next Wednesday, Sept. 3.
