WILD ROSE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Authorities are conducting an investigation after a person died by suicide during a law enforcement pursuit.
Shortly after 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office attempted to make contact with an individual in Wautoma who was believed to be suicidal.
Officers observed the person driving on County Road H, near the village of Wild Rose, and attempted to execute a traffic stop to check the individual’s welfare. The person did not stop for law enforcement and continued northbound on State Highway 22 through Wild Rose.
According to officials, the person then pulled into a parking lot off of State Highway 22, near County Road A, and committed suicide. Lifesaving measures were attempted, but unsuccessful.
The name of the individual was not released. No one else was injured during the incident.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office is leading this investigation, with full cooperation from the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office. Once all evidence has been reviewed and facts have been determined, investigative reports will be turned over to the Waushara County District Attorney’s Office.
