WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Housing finance providers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will offer to freeze mortgage payments for owners of multifamily properties if they agree to stop evicting residents during the coronavirus pandemic, their regulator said on Monday.
The Federal Housing Finance Agency, which regulates the pair, said it would make it easier for multifamily property owners to help renters struggling to make payments without suffering themselves.
