APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula was taken into custody in an internet sex sting in Outagamie County.
Investigators say Marcos Echevarria Santiago, 29, traveled from Menominee, Michigan, to Outagamie County to meet what he thought was a 13-year-old girl for sex. The “girl” was in fact an investigator. Santiago was arrested when he arrived at a home in Outagamie County.
Sheriff’s officials are recommending Santiago be charged with:
Using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime
Attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child
Causing a child to view or listen to sexual activity
Solicitation of an intimate representation of a child
The formal charges have not yet been filed, but are expected to be soon.
