MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Brown County is one of three Wisconsin counties with a shrinking trend of coronavirus activity, while Waupaca and Waushara counties are seeing a growing trend.
That’s according to the state Department of Health Services’ weekly dashboard, which is updated every Wednesday.
Most Northeast Wisconsin counties have high burdens and high activity. One exception is Florence County, which is listed as low in both categories. In that county, no one has reported new symptoms or tested positive in three weeks.
Green Lake County has a moderate burden and medium activity, while Door, Kewaunee and Shawano counties have moderately high burdens and high activity.
Meanwhile, the number of new cases on Wednesday was up from Tuesday, but remained down from recent record highs. DHS reported 870 new cases and 13,824 negative tests. The 5.9% positive rate was up from Tuesday’s 5.3%.
The state also reported five new deaths, bringing the total to 911.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 51,049 cases in Wisconsin and 851,391 negative tests.
DHS considers 40,416 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
The Wisconsin Hospitals Association has not updated hospitalization numbers since Friday. A note on its website says the group is making changes to data collection following guidelines recently announced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
