KIEL, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Crews escorted one resident from an apartment building while they put out a cooking fire.
The Kiel Fire Department says, just before 12:15 p.m., it was dispatched to 19 E. Paine St. Callers reported smoke in the building and smoke alarms sounding.
When crews arrived, residents had begun evacuating, but one told firefighters that another resident was still inside. Fire and police personnel found the resident and escorted the person out of the building.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a stovetop. They stayed on scene for about an hour and a half ventilating smoke from the building.
One resident was evaluated by an ambulance crew and then released. Everyone was able to return to their apartments.
